Internationally renowned artistic director, designer, and show director. He has notably collaborated with world-renowned artists such as SHAKIRA, Jean Paul GAULTIER, Jean-Michel JARRE, Emeli SANDÉ, Arturo BRACHETTI, Gérard DEPARDIEU, Alicia KEYS, and Katy PERRY.
His background and career began in the world of Cinema, Advertising, and Television, including the studios of the Regional Television of his hometown (Notélé). This extraordinary and multimedia creative imported an almost cinematic writing: his shows are designed as immersive experiences, plunging spectators 360 degrees into an oversized film set where actors, special effects, soundtracks, choreographies, acrobatic feats, stunts, and pyrotechnics emerge…
Luc PETIT has, among other things, directed the DISNEY CINEMA PARADE in Paris, the opening ceremony of EURO 2000 in Brussels, and the inauguration of the ALTIRA HOTEL in Macau in the presence of actor CHOW Yun-fat, for whom he has called upon his talent for many years: Franco DRAGONE, famous notably for his creations for CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, Céline DION’s show in Las Vegas, and THE HOUSE OF DANCING WATER show in Macau.
Among his creations, let’s also mention a sumptuous Indian wedding in Venice with guest appearances by SHAKIRA and GOTAN PROJECT, as well as the DISCOVERY OF A NEW WORLD show in Harbin, China for WANDA GROUP. He also oversees the casting management of STORY OF A FORT LEGACY OF A NATION in Abu Dhabi.
He undertakes projects for NESPRESSO, BNP PARIBAS FORTIS, PROXIMUS, ORANGE, THALYS, and BESIX. He designs two events for the company AMWAY China integrating video mapping, water fountains, grand magic acts, and performances. In collaboration with FILMMASTER EVENTS, and under the artistic direction of Marco BALICH, he envisions a spectacle in Ukraine on a floating stage in the center of a lake. Subsequently, he organizes an incredible aquatic show for TELENET with high-diving divers. Luc PETIT also brings the legendary Cinecittà studios back to life by presenting a Roman parade in the fabulous movie sets and a dinner show attended by singers Emeli SANDÉ and Alicia KEYS. In Lebanon and Florence, he orchestrates grand receptions enhanced by the presence of Puff DADDY and Katy PERRY.
Very active in Belgium, he conceives and produces the festivities of the opening ceremony of Mons 2015 – European Capital of Culture and a sound and light show in Bastogne, as part of the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, for which he receives, with Tempora, the Trophy of Exceptional Event in Cannes. In June 2015, he stages INFERNO, the opening show of the Bicentenary of the legendary Battle of Waterloo, an impressive show played on a stage with an opening of 170 meters emerging in the middle of wheat fields and bringing together 300 reenactors, fifty horses, and 250 artists.
At the EuBEA 2015 festival in Seville, these Bicentenary events win 8 Awards including Best European Event, Best Cultural Event, and Best Artistic Director. At the Hougoumont Farm, Luc PETIT creates the scenography of a multimedia room and brings to life the battle between Napoleon and Wellington through projections on three immense mobile bas-reliefs.
With Michel TEHEUX, he creates the non-profit organization LES NOCTURNALES which develops heritage operas aimed at highlighting architectural gems anchored in collective memory. The NOËL DES CATHÉDRALES tour and now LES FÉERIES DE BELOEIL are some illustrations of his imagination. In December 2019, the non-profit organization organized the fabulous spectacle LES ROUTES DE LA LIBERTÉ for the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. This show was awarded the Gold Elephant Awards in the Education category and the Silver Elephant Awards in the Best Cultural Event category by the Jury of the Bea World Festival 2020.
Luc Petit has also created urban operas, such as the famous “DÉCROCHER LA LUNE,” the sixth edition of which won the Thea Award for Best Exceptional Event in Los Angeles. He directs the underground video mapping show “ORIGIN” at the Han Caves and parades, one dedicated to Jean Paul GAULTIER in Montreal, under the artistic direction of Danielle ROY. Together, they oversee the artistic management of the outdoor aspect and street arts of the JUSTE POUR RIRE FESTIVAL for several years.
Luc Petit and his team have also conceptualized a musical inspired by the story of PETER PAN, blending dance, song, acrobatics, lighting effects, and videos: the largest video mapping show for arenas that continued its success with a world tour and was praised by hundreds of thousands of spectators in Europe, as well as in Dubai, Doha, Singapore, and Taipei.
Accompanied by an international team, Luc Petit successfully designed and realized a unique permanent show, “QING SHOW,” in Qingdao, China. Inspired by the popular Chinese legend of the Eight Immortals, this show was hosted in a theater specially built for the purpose.
A true wizard of the performing arts, Luc Petit combines all disciplines and the most innovative technical means to present surprising atmospheres at every show, always in service of his personal and human artistic approach.
In August 2022, the Tournai-born director takes over the Belœil Castle Park with the show “Pinocchio.” A revisiting of Carlo Collodi’s famous tale, featuring over 60 actors, 9 scenes spread over more than a kilometer of the course. A show of 40 performances for a total of over 17,000 spectators.
In September 2022, director Luc Petit is rewarded for his work in heritage enhancement by the Walloon Federal Government, which elevates him to the title of Knight of the Walloon Merit during the 2022 Walloon Festival celebrations.
The end of 2022 and the dawn of 2023 see once again the tour of “Noël des Cathédrales.” This time, two shows are presented simultaneously: “The Battle of the Angels” and “The Christmas Hourglass.” This tour passes through cities such as Lille, Brussels, and Namur.
In March 2023, Luc Petit presents an unprecedented show in the city of Liège: “The Carnival of the Animals.” With Luc Petit as director and comedian Bruno Coppens as screenwriter, this show demonstrates a technical challenge: the suspension of a giant mirror allowing the reflection of images projected on the ground. This spectacle brings together more than 20 dancers and 130 costumes, as well as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège – co-producer of the show.
To celebrate the 800 years since the granting of the charter of freedoms, Luc Petit stages the folklore of the city of Wavre: “Le Jeu de Jean et Alice.” Through mapping created for the event, more than 400 volunteers and artists bring this spectacle to life on the Place Cardinal Mercier.
The summer of 2023 marks the return of the annual show at the Château de Belœil. This time, Luc Petit stages his vision of the tale of “Peter Pan.” A wandering show lasting an hour and a half and multidisciplinary, it brings together more than a hundred artists and 23,000 spectators in 57 performances.
Produced by Avant Que L’Ombre, “La Nuit des Dragons” transported spectators into the fiery and legendary world of dragons within the Château de Rixensart.
The year 2023 was also concluded by the tour of “Noël des Cathédrales.” This time, Luc Petit’s new creation, “L’Arche de Noël,” was performed in the cathedrals and churches of three Belgian cities: the Saint-Martin Church of Arlon, the Saint-Paul Cathedral of Liège, and the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Tournai.
"An illuminator of mystery, when he incorporates the sacred into his art, Luc Petit is not far off the moon".
In recent years
Luc PETIT co-signed the scenography of the exhibition “Le Petit Prince Parmi les Hommes” and directed “Les Folkloriales de Namur” and “Les Folkloriales de Bastogne,” as well as outdoor shows: “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge” and “Pinocchio” in the splendid setting of the Beloeil Park.
This summer 2022, he was awarded the title of KNIGHT OF THE WALLOON MERIT for his contribution to promoting and enhancing the heritage of Wallonia.
He is preparing “Le Carnaval des Animaux” with BRUNO COPPENS and the PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA OF LIÈGE for spring 2023.
